5. Doll Chateau – Ela the Ant BJD
Honestly there are so many Doll Chateau dolls that could make this list. The company is well known for making strange and unique dolls. They have made scorpion dolls, centaurs, mermaid like dolls, and much more! They made a series of ant BJDs too and all three have different faces.
They are 10cm tall and are considered limited edition dolls. The doll has 2 arms and 4 legs. I do not on the doll myself so I do not know how well it stand on it’s own but I can imagine it takes some adjusting. I just find it to be an interesting sculpt and would love to see it in a terrarium for display.
4. Ango Doll- Jack the Rapper and Wisper BJD Pets
Another trend in the BJD hobby are BJD pets. There are several dolls out there that are considered BJD pets. Most companies even have separate sections for them on their pages. Generally BJD pets are smaller than a standard 1/6 scale doll. BJD Pets are also cast from resin and may or may not have moveable parts. Going back to our number 4 spot on the list with Ango Doll, they have created a series of zombie animals. Yes you read it right…zombie animals.
These I feel would be a horror lovers dream to have! The have a rabbit and a cat that are zombie like. They may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it really goes to show you that there is variety in this hobby!
3. Angel of Dream Doll- Hui Xiang the Pregnant BJD
A few years ago Mattel made a pregnant doll. A lot of people either liked it or thought it was just weird. Honestly I am surprised that this doll didn’t get the same attention. Hui Xiang is a 60cm pregnant BJD.
Now unlike the Mattel doll who had a removable tummy, this girl has to a have a “b” section. The baby is stored and removed through the back of the doll.
I really also think what makes her unique is her face. There are dolls out there with smiling faces and teeth but they are not the norm. Her eye shape also gives the effect of a full smile on her face. Overall I think it is a very interesting doll and not common by any means. So if you were looking for a pregnant BJD look no further! Angel of Dream has you covered!
2. Huajing Doll- Crab Monster BJD Qing Yi
The fantasy spectrum in this hobby is insane. You can find many different animals and animal humanoid dolls. Let me bring Huajing into the light and show you their “Crab Monster”. I think this doll should get extra points for it’s crab bra.
This doll stands at 29cm which is interesting because I feel like she would be a good 1/4 scale size doll instead of 1/6. Maybe the company wanted to keep her small like a crab? Either way, she has some pretty interesting sculpted parts and the claws even can be switched out for another optional set of hands.
It is definitely a strange doll but you have to admit….she’s pretty cool.
1. Mezen Fantasty Dolls- Pisyun Doll
Taking my number 1 spot for strangest sculpt goes to the very creative Darya Mezentseva. They are well known for making very fantasy type dolls and creatures. If you want to talk about creating something TOTALLY out there and one of a kind…look no further. Mezen has a doll that looks like a…penis. Now I know what you are thinking.
“What the heck? How do you even make a doll out of that?”
You will not believe how talented this artist is to make a penis BJD doll look cute. The whole look of the doll comes out very comical and actually quite charming. It comes with several face plates which can give it a range of emotions.
The doll stands at 17cm in height, has 14 points of articulation, and is made of polyurethane.
The creator has also made a few other versions. You can check out their creations and more on their website. It really is pretty amazing to see something so bizarre turned into a doll. It wouldn’t be my first choice to take home but I think it would be pretty hilarious to show up to a doll meet with one!

I can totally see how some people could fall in love with some of these strange dolls. They might not be for everybody but I feel like they are something different from the norm that you cannot look away from.
I love this hobby so much and all the crazy that can come with it sometimes.
