Doll Con Dallas

In February, I had an incredible experience as a guest at Doll Con Dallas, a remarkable doll convention in its inaugural year. Allow me to take you on a journey through my unforgettable time at the event and inspire you to join and support them when they make their return!

Where did the con take place?

The convention was held at the MCM Elegante hotel in Dallas, Texas. It was conveniently 12 min away from the airport and there was plenty of space. The rooms were clean and offered great amenities such as a refrigerator and microwave (something I really love having when I go to cons).

I slept like a baby

The hotel was very nice and not overcrowded. The overall vibe was very chill and I loved that I could go up to my room when I wanted to and then return to the con at my own pace.

What to do at the con?

Doll Con Dallas was a 2 day doll convention that welcomed any legitimate dolls. There were resin ball jointed dolls, Reborns, Smart Dolls, custom dolls, and much more. The con had a schedule with workshops and presentations. There was also a work room that people could go to hang out with other collectors or make things using the free craft materials provided on the tables.

One of my favorite parts of the convention was the vendor room. There were vendors there selling doll items! You could find props, clothes, wigs, eyes, accessories, and even second hand dolls for sale!

There were also lots of door prizes that were given away too! Ringdoll had donated a doll for a giveaway! For all 4 of my panels that I ran I also had prizes to give. My big prize was a MYou Doll Gina Provided by the Junky Spot!

At the end of the last day we had a huge swap meet that took up the 2 rooms.

Everyone was super nice and hospitable. It was great meeting fellow collectors and artists! What made this whole experience sweeter was the fact that the ticket to get in was so affordable. If you caught the pre-registration deal it was only $30 for the 2 days. If you missed out on that and paid at the door it was $40.

The staff for the con said that they wanted to make a highly affordable experience for people to enjoy that could be casual and fun. I am so thankful to the staff because the convention was a blast!

Who came to the con?

There were several guests that came to this first year convention. They had invited Sam from Nocturne Studios (Faceup artist), Logan from Logan Dolls, Jacob from Blank Space Dolls, Digi from Digi Dolls, Ross with One Thyrd, Kat with Stacked Rubbish, and little ol’ me (Asenva BJD).

Along with a great list of guests, there were several popular vendors there too!

The staff is really hoping to pull in more guests for the next convention. This first run though was still a great lineup!

What I want more of…

This was the con’s first year and they did a phenomenal job of making sure things ran smoothly and guests and con goers were taken care of. I think I would love to see even more vendors come out and doll artists.

There is such a rise in doll artists today that I think it is great for people to hear about their experiences and maybe even get a few tips. I really enjoy hearing from others and would love to see some more panels revolving around that.

I would also love to see more people come in and love the con! I know it is a tough time with the pandemic and everything but I do want this convention to grow and for people to have the opportunity to make friends with fellow doll collectors.

What you can look forward to

I did happen to take videos of my time there at the con! I did a bit of a livestream on my YouTube Channel as well as some interviews with the guests. Please check out my YouTube if you want to see some videos from the con!

The con staff is currently working hard at planning for the next con. There is no set date for now but they will be working on bringing you an even better and bigger con next time!
