As the hobby continues to grow and become more popular-items for BJDs are becoming a thing on Amazon! I went ahead and did a Dolly Talk Tue on BJD finds on Amazon and then purchased some things to try out! Here is a quick snap shot on some of the items I purchased.
If you would like to see what I purchased please check out my Amazon suggestions here.
What I purchased
There were several cool things to see on Amazon. You can now find clothes and wigs on Amazon for BJDs of all sizes.
Here is a behind the scenes on my video I will be editing and putting up soon.
One of the first things I purchased was a short BJD Wig. Here is what the listing looked like on Amazon. It was retailed at $19.99 on Amazon and came in about 1 and a half weeks later. The wig looked long and very cool looking. The length looked like it went down the nape of the neck.
It is listed on Amazon as a 1/3 scale size wig. It had a size of 8-9-10 inches. Below is an image of the wig on my Bobobie Apollo.
As you can see it was actually a lot shorter than what was pictured. I even tried it on my other 1/3 scale size boys and it still was very short on them. It wasn’t an ugly wig or bad quality-it just wasn’t as long as it was pictured in the listing. I think it would have been nice if it was longer. It for sure fits more on the 8-9 range than the 9-10 I think.
BJD Eyes on Amazon
The next item I purchased was a pair of BJD eyes. They were advertised as glass eyes and they came in several different sizes. I actually ordered a pair of 16mm and 10mm. The quality was AMAZING. The price on Amazon was $13.99 and they came in VERY fast!
I was honestly skeptical because they were shiny or sparkly looking and I wasn’t sure if they were going to look ok. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were so vivid in color and the detailing was fantastic! The packaging for them was impressive! They came in a plastic case that had a clear vinyl covering. It was easy to open and a great way to display the eyes while they were incased.
These eyes were worth their price! I would give them a 10/10 on quality. I am actually curious to see more eyes and would love to buy more from this particular store on Amazon.
BJD Full Sets
The next item I ordered was a full set. It basically came with everything you need to fully dress your doll. Most of these sets came with an outfit, accessory(hat/bag), shoes, and a wig. This whole set was in the price range of $42.99. I was the most nervous on buying this online to be honest. That many items for that low of a price seemed too good to be true. I was wondering if it was going to come poorly sewn or cheaply made. I was SHOCKED when I got in the items.
Here is what the listing looked like. It kind of had cheap looking vibes to it. Especially the shoes and hat. HOWEVER when I opened it up they were probably the nicest things I have seen! The top was kind of sheen but it was still very nice! The outfit has Velcro but it is sewn on straight and smoothly.
Here is a photo with Yue wearing everything. The only downside to buying these sets is if you don’t like something from the set. I loved the outfit, accessories and shoes, but I wasn’t crazy about the wig. I had to suck it up and just take the wig with it. The wig actually was very good quality too and I could use it for another doll in the future. Even just putting the outfit/accessories/shoes together is well worth the $42 dollars! The items came in quick which was another bonus. All in all I would give this set a 10/10. I am excited to try other sets! I wish they made more boy sets but maybe with time they will come out with more male clothing too.
Thoughts on Amazon BJD items
If you are looking for some affordable items for your BJD dolls and don’t want to wait months for items to come in-You should check out these items on Amazon! I still feel though that the dolls themselves are still very questionable (check out my article on the dolls themselves) However the accessories are GREAT!
