CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP! Yue said to herself internally trying to speed walk to her class that she was already 10 minutes late to.
Why was everything going so wrong today? She got up late because of the stupid jet lag from traveling from Hong Kong to America, she could not for the life of her figure out where the counselor’s office was, and she ran over a fellow student on her way to look for said office.
“AND HE WAS CUTE TOO! GOD WHY AM I SO DUMB?” She said aloud smacking her forehead and gaining looks from those around her in the hallway.
Ok this is fresh start part two. Yue nodded to herself.
Part one was her actually getting to come here in the first place. Her dad was Chinese and ran a very successful company and her mom was an American working as a translator for his company. They worked closely together and well one thing led to another and SHABAM they got married. A few years later they gave birth to rambunctious girl who had her heart set on becoming a journalist. Where was the best place to go to school for that? You guessed it, Monarch University.
But jeeze what a way to make a first impression by being late on her first day of class. She found the door number she was looking for and matched it with the schedule card her counselor gave her.
This is it.
I can do this.
Just take a deep breath and walk right in….easy breezy.
Filling her lungs with a large breath, Yue turned the handle and walked right in. Class was obviously already in session and the professor stopped what he was saying to look at the interruption.
“Can I help you?” The man said, wondering why this girl chose this time to walk in.
“Uh…yes…I just transferred here…sorry to interrupt…I’m Yue Huang…” It suddenly got hot and she could feel the heat rising to her cheeks. All eyes were on her. The professor looked over some papers that were on his desk and then waved a hand towards the desks.
“Ah yes, the transfer…you came all the way from China right? Just take a seat somewhere open.” He said nonchalantly and continued on his lecture.
Yue’s eyes scanned the room for a vacant seat and landed on a familiar pair of blue eyes.
It was him! The cute guy she trampled this morning! Her savior! To add to her luck there was an empty seat beside him too!
THERE IS A GOD! Yue thought sitting happily next to the boy that saved her earlier today.
He gave her the faintest of smiles and went back into being absorbed in the lecture and taking notes. Yue hurried to get out some note taking supplies of her own but couldn’t help stealing glances at her neighbor. He had a calm looking face with brown hair that was a bit longer than most boys hair. His eyes were a light blue color that seemed focused and intelligent. Yue’s eyes drifted to him picking up his highlighter in which she observed his fingers were long and slender. Then sky blue eyes met hers and-
HE CAUGHT ME STARING…What’s wrong with me?! Focus on class Yue…boys can come later! She scolded herself and looked away quickly pretending to write down whatever point the professor was teaching at that moment.
“-please pick your partner and be prepared to complete your pair assignment by next week. Submit your names to me by the end of the day. That is all.” The professor said stacking some papers and gathering his things.
Wait…what…partner? Why was I in la la land instead of paying attention? Yue inwardly groaned. Students were already buzzing with conversations and pairing off.
“Do you want to partner with me?” Came a voice from her side. She swung around to see Kai looking at her quite calmly.
IS HE AN ANGEL?!?!
“Oh really? Sure that would be great!” Yue said with a big smile. Not only did this guy help find her way this morning, he also saved her the awkwardness of walking around and looking for a partner in a class where she was completely new.
“We should probably exchange contact information. Here.” Kai said writing something down on his notebook and then tearing it out. He handed it to Yue and she looked it over and saw it contained his name, school email, and phone number.
“Oh! Right!” Yue said scribbling in her own notebook to exchange information with him. She handed it to him and he tucked it into his notebook.
“Uh… so when should we meet to discuss the assignment?” Yue nervously asked tucking a strand of her long pink hair behind her ear.
“Well when is your next class? I actually have a break after this first class.” Kai said packing up his things. Yue dug out her schedule card and ran her finger down the list of classes. Her next class was in 30 minutes. She had time.
“I am free for the next 30 minutes! Then I have to head off to economics…ugh” She read the card with a frown on her face. Kai just gave a silent nod as if he agreed with her distaste in the subject.
“Is there a student café or anything like that we can work at?” Yue asked packing up her things.
“Yes there is. Actually, you probably don’t know much about the campus or where things are do you since it’s your first day?” Kai said getting up from his seat waiting for the girl.
“I am pretty clueless when it comes to directions…but I feel like you have already done so much for me. I don’t want to be a bother.” Yue said with guilt in her voice and casting her eyes downward.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ve been the new kid before so I know what you’re going through.” Kai said getting a small shimmer of a memory of when he had to change schools when he started living with his aunt and uncle.
Yue beamed and felt the excitement bubble within in her. She was so lucky to have met Kai er- rather bumped into him this morning. And it didn’t hurt that he was also easy on the eyes-
CONTROL YUE CONTROL
“Let’s go.” Kai said leading her towards the exit and holding the door open for her.
The two headed towards the café having a light and pleasant conversation when suddenly the sounds of music started to fill the air.
Yue looked around and saw that the student café was open and crowded with lots of girls. The girls were huddled around a small wooden platform that was placed just outside the café. It was small band playing a fast paced pop song of some sort. There were 4 members standing on the stage.
The drummer had snow white hair and a really friendly face. His tan arms were strong and tapped to a beat on a standing snare. There was a guy on a portable keyboard just jamming out and feeling the music. The keyboardist had light blonde hair and it shifted with every movement he made as he played the keys. The bass player was singing harmonies with the lead and his silver earing which was a long silver feather, twisted and turned with each pluck. Then there was the lead singer and guitarist with long black hair that had a red streak in the front. He gave smiles out to the crowd and his green eyes looking straight into the crowd as he sang. He gave off very charismatic vibes and truly fit the mold as the leader of the band.
Kai and Yue were towards the back of the crowd trying to observe a way to maneuver through and get to the now blocked off café. The song ended and there were several claps and cheers. Girls shuffled around as they tried to gain attention from the band. The stampede threw Kai and Yue apart and she was trapped in the sea of fans.
“Kai!” Yue shouted out as she was separated and dragged away in the crowd. Kai looked on a bit worried and tried to avoid colliding into any other girls for the day.
With a big shove from an excited fan Yue fell to the floor.
“Whoa whoa whoa…. calmate ladies!” The lead vocalist said stepping down into the mosh pit of ladies. He made his way through to the fallen girl and extended a hand.
“I’ve got you.” He said pulling her up and earning jealous glares from the fans in the vicinity. Yue, feeling the pressure around her nervously smiled and muttered a thanks. She was expecting her hand back but instead felt his hand tighten around hers.
“You look new…what’s your name?” The leader of the band asked still holding her hand. Yue looked at it expecting to be freed.
“Yue…yes I am new.” She attempted to take her hand back but instead it met his lips for a soft kiss. The fans went crazy around them.
“I’m Tre and this is ‘Star Gazing'” He said extending an arm out to his band. He then pulled Yue closer bringing her hand to his chest. This really fired up the fangirls with all kinds of jealous shouts.
“But I must say…not even the stars could match your beauty. I think I could gaze into your eyes all night.” Tre said with the most devilish smile.
At that moment Kai was able to make his way to the center where all the commotion was taking place. Yue saw him break through and took the opportunity to free herself from the singers grip.
“Kai! There you are!” She said in a hurry and linked her arm with his.
“It was nice to meet you but we have this project and yeah we have to go-” Yue said whisking a very confused Kai away.
Tre’s fangirls were ready to take her place and swarmed the singer. Tre looked past his fans who were invading his vision of the bubble gum haired angel fleeing the scene.
“Yue..huh…” Tre said quietly to himself smiling.
